Your Cruise Ship: Refurbished or Revitalized?

Here's one for the "Didja Know?" file.

When a cruise ship is said to have been refurbished it usually means that it has been taken out of service for about two weeks and given a quick sprucing up. Worn carpets have been replaced, paint has been touched up, some reupholstering has been done, and so forth.

When you hear that a ship have been revitalized it usually means that the ship was out of service for up to two months, during which time a more or less complete overhaul was undertaken. Lounges were gutted and redesigned, the color scheme and decor revamped, all cabins redone, and so forth. In many ways, the revitalized ship is "just like new."

Now you know.
